What does it cost?

tell me! » During its initial release, the ViaList software and service are free. We're using this time to find out how people use our software, make sure it has all the features they need, and find out what it turns out to be worth to them.

Eventually, we'll charge for ViaList, but pricing plans will depend on user feedback. Our current expectation is that it will be free to read or update lists, or to use the ViaList software to keep local lists. If you want to post more than a few of your own lists for others to share, there will be a monthly or annual service charge.

What kind of computer do I need to use ViaList?

tell me! » The ViaList software currently requires Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP. An Internet connection is necessary if you plan to share lists with others. Updating ViaList lists is fast, even on a dial-up connection.

Can I use ViaList to keep personal lists that I don't want to share?

tell me! » Sure! You can just store the list on your own computer, where it's accessible to you whether or not you have an Internet connection. You can also post the list with yourself as the only user, so you can access and update it from any computer you use.

Do I need an Internet connection to use ViaList?

tell me! » You only need to be connected when you want to post or get updates, so it's great to use even when your connection is expensive or sporadic. If you just want to use ViaList to keep lists on your own PC, you don't need an Internet connection at all.

Does everybody in my group need to be online at the same time to use ViaList ?

tell me! » No. ViaList is not an "online meeting" or screen-sharing application. It lets everybody work "on their own time," and then it coordinates the changes whenever requested to do so.
